UPDATE Pizza on the Ooni Fyra
For this video we wanted to do a follow up on our review of the Ooni Pizza Oven. It’s been 4 months since our initial review and felt it would be a good time to cook and to update our review! We used the dough recipe below and a basic sauce made with crushed tomatoes.
For the Dough:
· 1 Package of Yeast
· 2 TBSP of Olive Oil
· 2 TBSP Salt
· 1 1/2 Cups of warm water
· 4 Cups of “00” Flour
Pour about 1/2 of the water into a bowl, add the yeast and let dissolve. Put your flour into the bowl of a stand mixer, add in the salt, olive oil and the yeast/water mixture. Start your mixer on low, add your water slowly (you may not need all of it). Once the dough has pulled clean away from the mixing bowl, stop adding the water and let the dough knead/mix for 5-10 minutes. Remove the dough from the mixer and form into a ball. Add about a teaspoon of oil to a bowl, place the dough ball into the bowl and turn the ball to coat with oil. Cover with a towel and place in a warm dark area to rise until it doubles in size.
Start your Ooni with a handful of pellets. Let it reach a deck temp of at least 650 degrees. Add more pellets as needed to maintain. Once your dough has doubled in size, remove from the bowl and place on a floured surface. Cut the dough into 4 evenly sized pieces. Work the dough into individual balls.
Starting in the center of the dough push outward with the pads of your fingers (see video). Once your dough is about a 12 inch diameter place on a pizza peel that has been dusted with corn meal. Sauce your pizza with your desired amount, add cheese and toppings of your choice. With your oven at 650 degrees, launch your pizza. I spin my pizza every 15 seconds to prevent burning. Usually about 6 turns and the pizza is done!
We still enjoy using our Ooni, everything still works as it did the day it was purchased!
