It’s almost turkey time! Deep Frying a turkey is a quick and easy! These turkeys turned out juicy, tender and delicious and they don’t take all day to prep and cook! We had two birds, so we tried two flavor profiles. Cajun for the win in this camp!
· 1 12-14LB Turkey
· 2 Sticks of Butter
· 4 TBSP of Cajun Seasoning
· 2 TBSP of All Purpose Rub
Deep frying a turkey must be done outdoors. Do not overfill your fryer with oil and follow all safety instructions that came with your cooker. Make sure your turkey is completely thawed and dried. Prep your turkey with your favorite rub and or injection. For this video we injected one by melting two sticks of butter and one tablespoon of Cajun Seasoning. Once injected, we seasoned the outside well with the Cajun Seasoning. For the other turkey we simply seasoned with All Purpose Rub. We heated our peanut oil to 350 degrees. Once the temp was met, we shut the gas off and carefully placed the turkey into the pot. Wear long sleeved gloves and slowly lower the bird into the oil, being careful not to overflow the hot oil. Once the turkey is submerged, turn the gas back on and cook the turkey 3-4 minutes per pound or until the white meat reaches 165 and the dark meat reaches 180 degrees. Carefully remove the turkey from the pot and place on a cookie sheet and let rest prior to carving.
