Beer Can Chicken

Beer Can Chicken on the Big Green Egg

This is an amazingly simple recipe with only a few ingredients. For this recipe I used my Big Green Egg and used the BGE Beer Can Chicken stand.

Give this one a try, the chicken was juicy and the skin was crispy!

  • 4-5 Lb. Whole Chicken

  • Cooking Spray

  • 1/2 Cup of you favorite BBQ Rub for Chicken

  • 12 Ounces of your favorite beer

  • 1 Cup of Apple Juice for Spritzing

I started by cleaning the chicken very well. I trimmed any excess skin and then patted dry the outside and inside.

While the chicken was coming up to room temperature, I setup my BGE to cook indirectly. I waited until the dome thermometer read 325 degrees.

I then sprayed the entire chicken down with olive oil cooking spray. I applied Kozmo’s Killer Honey Bee Rub liberally over the entire bird.

Filled the BGE Chicken stand with beer and carefully placed the chicken on top.

I placed the bird in the center of the BGE and cooked it for 1-1 ½ hours until the internal temp in the breast reached 165 degrees.

Periodically throughout the cook I sprayed the bird down with apple juice to moisten the skin.

Once removed let the chicken rest for 15 mins and carve it up!
